- Set-up and operate Miller Axcess 40v wire feeder and Miller Axcess 300 pulse welder.
- Fabrication of large hoppers and tanks used for heating, storing, applying, and transporting hot asphalt!
- Weld the tank and hopper walls using MIG and Pulse practices. Must be leak proof!
- Use of jigs and fixtures required for a majority of all day to day operations.
- Ability to read and interpret welding drawings, BOMs, and associated procedures.
- Perform fabrication and welding operations, including leak proof processes, according to documented manufacturing procedures and prints.
- Self-inspect and evaluate the quality of products before forwarding to the next step in the fulfillment process.

Stepp’s Painter is responsible for painting parts such as steel hoppers, tanks, trailer frames, and additional component parts using liquid polyurethane paint. All parts will be forwarded to the next department for assembly into a finished, quality product as specified by our municipal customers.
Stepp Mfg. has strong written procedures for our paint processes, which have been reviewed and approved by certified Axalta paint representatives. A candidate with less than the preferred 2-3 years paint experience must exhibit a strong aptitude for learning new skills, be receptive to training, and carefully adhere to Company's documented processes and procedures.
Full time position MONDAY – FRIDAY. Must be willing to be flexible with daily hours in order to match the current workflow through the shop and keep up with daily production schedule demands.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Adhere to the company’s standard paint mix ratio to mix liquid polyurethane paint with appropriate amount of hardener/activator for proper curing of the liquid paint.
- Use of gravity guns and pressure pots to apply paint
- Use of metal glaze/body filler, and tools such as DA (dual action) to create a flat, smooth surface when applying paint
- Visually perform quality checks for paint coverage, runs, contamination, or any defect on the painted parts’ appearance before allowing parts to advance to the next cell.
- Knowledgeable in regards to taping/masking for prep
- Adhere to the posted paint booth maintenance schedule to keep the booth clean and properly functioning for maximum efficiency.
- When needed, assist with cleaning, deburring, and sanding part(s) to an appropriate level of finish in preparation for painting
- Load and unload parts to and from paint racks as needed (50lb max weight lifting)
- Self-inspect and evaluate the quality of products before forwarding to the next step in the fulfillment process.

- Daily exposure to chemicals and paint fumes - Regular use of respirator is required. Hired candidate must pass a medical evaluation to be cleared to wear the respirator, and undergo a respirator fit-test.

Must be mechanically inclined to work in the Final Assembly department of our full manufacturing facility assembling the individual components of our equipment into the finished product. This position includes mounting hoppers to trailer frames, installing control boxes, wiring harnesses, heating systems (LP and Diesel Burners, and Electric), and other miscellaneous bolt-on components such as tool boxes, solvent tanks, and tool holders. All work is performed from work orders and prints to customer specification.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform mechanical assembly operations according to documented manufacturing procedures such as Bill of Materials (BOM), assembly drawings, and work instructions. Must be able to read and interpret blueprint drawings, BOMs, wiring schematics, and associated procedures.
- Must be mechanically inclined and familiar with “wrench” type work
- Identify and correctly use various hand tools including but not limited to: Standard ratchets and wrenches, pipe and crescent wrenches, drills and impact drivers, pliers, vise-grips, and cutters
- Self-inspect and evaluate the quality of products before forwarding to the next step in the fulfillment process *CRITICAL FOR FINAL ASSEMBLY* as this is the final step before shipping the finished product to our customer(s).
- Other duties deemed necessary to support the Company's business operations, (ie. Service and Repair and/or other cross-trainable departments within the shop)
- Perform work at or above pre-established performance objectives

Electrical Assembly Technician’s primary responsibilities include assembling and installing all high and low voltage electrical components for our equipment, such as wire harnesses and control boxes, according to documented prints and wire schematics. This person must also be willing to assist the Service Department with troubleshooting electrical problems on used equipment when needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Build wire harnesses by cutting wires to specified length according to print, and installing and soldering terminals per assembly drawings.
- Build high and low voltage electrical control panels using wires, relays, and other control devices.
- Install and connect wire harnesses on truck bodies and truck mounted equipment.
- Assist the Service Department with trouble shooting electrical problems when needed.
- Perform some light-duty mechanical assembly operations as needed.
- Identify and correctly use various hand tools including but not limited to:
